Ergosaf Environmental and Occupational Health Services, a division of LexisNexis (Pty) Ltd, provides a comprehensive range of environmental and occupational hygiene services to our clients in South Africa and internationally. Our primary function is to assist clients to comply with environmental and occupational hygiene related legislation, such as the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) and Mine Health and Safety Act (29 of 1996).
Ergosaf was established in 1988 and consists of an experienced team of occupational hygiene professionals who are registered with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH), and affiliated to the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA).
Experience has shown that accidents, occupational diseases and environmental pollution can be prevented. For this purpose, knowledge, as well as sound scientific measuring techniques are required to identify, evaluate and control potential risks.
Ergosaf provides in this requirement, an independent, unbiased and all-embracing occupational hygiene service, covering test facilities for asbestos, dust, gases, heat, ventilation, noise and illumination. Ergosaf also offers services such as environmental pollution management, advice on safety and occupational hygiene programmes, drafting of occupational hygiene standards, specifications and procedures, hazardous waste management, as well as health and safety training.
In providing these occupational hygiene services, Ergosaf consults at professional level to recommend balanced solutions, weighed against the financial, legal and moral obligations of the client.
Ergosaf is an Approved Inspection Authority with the Department of Labour in terms of the following occupational hygiene services:

• Chemical Stress Factors,
• Lead,
• Asbestos,
• Testing of Ventilation Systems,
• Hazardous Biological Agents and
• Ergonomic hazards.
